Iraq’s Communications and Media Commission (CMC) and Zain Iraq have launched a six-month training partnership focused on artificial intelligence and its practical use within the regulator.
The programme is being delivered with Irada Foundation and Kapita Research. According to the CMC, Zain Iraq is contributing expertise in AI deployment, training content and specialist instructors.
The training includes courses and workshops for senior CMC staff on strategic planning, AI governance, practical tools, data analysis and best practices in the media and communications sectors.
CMC head Baligh Abu Kalal said the partnership is intended to help institutionalise AI use across the organisation. He added that AI proficiency would be considered in career advancement, with staff demonstrating stronger expertise given priority for leadership roles.
According to Abu Kalal, the initiative is not designed to replace employees, but to increase their capabilities and productivity through modern tools. He also stressed that AI’s value depends on users who are both skilled and ethically minded.
