Abu Dhabi has launched what the Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) describes as the Gulf region’s first blockchain-authenticated Digital Skills Card. Introduced on September 7, the card gives professionals a digitally verifiable record connecting their skills and qualifications to accredited certifications.
Employers, regulators and other authorised stakeholders can scan the card’s QR code to verify its validity through ADI Chain, the blockchain infrastructure supporting each credential. The system is designed to authenticate records without placing sensitive information directly on the blockchain.
The QCC developed the card around recognised personnel conformity programmes, while the United Accreditation Centre (UAC) assesses workforce competencies and awards certifications through programmes accredited by the council.
UAC plans to expand the card beyond the qualifications covered at launch to include a broader range of professional achievements. The organisation said portable, verifiable credentials could help professionals demonstrate their skills across institutions and support workforce mobility across borders.
The QCC will work with government entities, regulators, employers and industry operators to extend digital credential solutions across Abu Dhabi. The launch adds workforce certification verification to the emirate’s wider push to digitise government and professional services.
