Saudi Arabia’s HUMAIN and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) are exploring a collaboration to make part of KAUST’s Shaheen III supercomputer available through HUMAIN Cloud.
The proposal would offer selected enterprises and researchers access to Shaheen III’s CPU-based compute capacity for data processing, scientific discovery, engineering simulations and digital twins. Initial target sectors include biotechnology, materials science, oil and gas, and manufacturing.
The organisations also plan to develop industry blueprints and reference architectures for HUMAIN’s planned HPC-as-a-Service platform, according to the announcement.
KAUST would retain ownership and operational control of Shaheen III, while existing allocations for its researchers would remain unchanged. The university has also confirmed that the system operates in line with applicable export control regulations and licence conditions.
No commercial agreement has been signed. Any expanded access will depend on definitive agreements and regulatory approval. Shaheen III consists of separate CPU and GPU partitions, with the GPU system ranked 22nd and the CPU system 64th in the June 2026 Top500 list.
