Abu Dhabi has launched a reproductive health program that aims to raise IVF success rates to 80% by 2030 using artificial intelligence, genomics, precision medicine and scientific research.
Led by the Department of Health, the Abu Dhabi Program for the Future of Reproductive Health will cover prevention, preconception care, genetic screening, fertility diagnosis and treatment, assisted reproductive technologies and fertility preservation, including egg freezing and embryo preservation.
IVF success rates in the emirate have reached 59%, according to the department. The new program brings together more than 2,000 clinical, scientific and technical specialists across more than 250 facilities.
Genomics will be central to the initiative, which will draw on Abu Dhabi’s database of nearly one million genomes, as well as premarital and preconception genetic screening programs. The data is expected to support earlier identification of inherited risks, more personalized fertility treatment and improved embryo selection.
AI and health data analytics will complement the genomic infrastructure by supporting diagnosis and treatment decisions. The department has also established a Global Reproductive Health Advisory Council to bring together international experts, help shape research priorities and support collaboration.
The initiative comes as the UAE addresses declining fertility rates among Emiratis. The total fertility rate fell 13.5% between 2014 and 2023, according to the announcement.
