The Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Industry has completed its second “Start Your Business” (SYB) training package in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), supporting young people and entrepreneurs in Syria as they move business ideas toward implementation.
The programme is part of the ILO’s global Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) initiative. Participants were selected under the programme’s international criteria and had already completed its first stage, according to the announcement.
Training covered practical areas including business planning, cost calculations, pricing, profit margins and marketing strategies aimed at reaching target customers. Participants said the programme helped them build the skills needed to turn ideas into viable projects.
Mohammad Ayman Al-Mawlawi, head of the chamber, said supporting young people and entrepreneurs was a priority and that the chamber was ready to provide support and cooperation to startups while helping create new jobs.
ILO representatives highlighted the importance of translating the programme’s concepts into practical outcomes for young people and women. The chamber awarded certificates to participants who successfully completed the second stage.
The second SYB package was launched on September 14 in cooperation with the ILO.
