Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and J.P. Morgan Asset Management have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a $20 billion investment partnership across public and private markets.
The agreement includes a $15 billion public equities mandate, under which J.P. Morgan Asset Management will manage customized global equity portfolios aligned with QIA’s long-term investment objectives.
A further $5 billion private markets initiative will provide senior financing to established middle-market companies in the United States. The initiative will focus on the industrials, services, healthcare and technology sectors.
According to the announcement, the partnership will combine QIA’s long-term institutional investment approach with J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s global investment platform and research capabilities.
Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, CEO of QIA, said the agreement would expand the sovereign wealth fund’s access to global equities and private credit platforms. Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of J.P. Morgan Asset and Wealth Management, said the firm would provide investment solutions tailored to QIA’s objectives.
The two institutions also plan to pursue continued investment dialogue, joint programs and the exchange of ideas as they explore opportunities across global equities and US private markets.
