Souhoola Plans $5.8M Consumer Finance Portfolio Sale in Q4 2026

Souhoola, Banque Misr’s consumer finance subsidiary, plans to sell around $5.8M (EGP 300M) in financing portfolios during the fourth quarter of 2026 as it continues to monetize part of its consumer finance book.

CEO Ahmed Alshanawany said the company is negotiating with banks to purchase the portfolios, although he did not identify the institutions involved. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2026.

The planned sale is part of Souhoola’s broader $29M (EGP 1.5B) portfolio monetization program. The company has already sold more than $11.6M (EGP 600M) in portfolios and issued EGP 883M in securitization bonds.

Souhoola, founded in 2019, provides buy now, pay later and consumer finance services for purchases including household goods, cars, education, healthcare, travel and tourism. Banque Misr acquired the company in 2022 and currently owns 99.7% of it.

The planned transaction will provide a further test of how Souhoola combines portfolio sales and securitization to manage its financing base and unlock cash from receivables.
