The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has launched the first phase of its Judicial AI Platform, developed with the Department of Government Enablement (DGE), Abu Dhabi’s government transformation body.
According to the announcement, the platform is the first integrated system of its kind globally to support judicial and legal decision-making with AI under full human oversight and verification.
The first phase introduces Judicial Assistant, a tool for prosecutors and criminal court judges. It can analyse certain cases, recommend decisions and draft judgments supported by relevant legislation and judicial precedents.
AI recommendations are non-binding. Final decisions remain with judicial authority members, based on professional judgment and the law, and the system does not affect judicial independence.
The launch begins an 18-month roadmap to expand the platform across ADJD’s workflows and integrate it with criminal, civil and other relevant systems. Planned capabilities include real-time translation, automated hearing records and tools to detect forged documents.
ADJD said the platform is intended to improve the efficiency, speed, consistency and accuracy of judicial and legal processes. The project forms part of Abu Dhabi’s broader digital transformation programme, led by DGE.
