Sheikha Hessa Saad Al Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah, chair of the Arab Businesswomen Council, said the organisation has grown from an idea into an economic body supporting Arab women’s participation in development.

Speaking at the opening of the council’s general assembly meeting for its eighth term, covering 2026-2030, Sheikha Hessa credited the League of Arab States with hosting and supporting the council throughout its development.

She also recognised the contributions of former League secretary-generals Esmat Abdel Meguid and Amr Moussa, as well as current Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to the council’s work.

According to her remarks, the council aims to connect Arab businesswomen and professionals, encourage the exchange of experience, and create wider opportunities for cooperation and investment.

Sheikha Hessa said women’s economic empowerment is closely linked to development across Arab countries. The council plans to continue supporting businesswomen and entrepreneurs while building regional partnerships that can help turn ideas and initiatives into scalable, competitive projects.
