UAE Universities Urged to Strengthen Entrepreneurship and Innovation Culture

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain, highlighted the role of national universities in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation among students and researchers during a review of Khalifa University of Science and Technology’s research programs and scientific initiatives.

The university delegation, led by its president, Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, presented the institution’s research achievements and the work of its centres in supporting industrial and vital sectors.

The discussions also covered efforts to turn academic and scientific research into commercial projects through partnerships with industry, as well as the development of technology applications and solutions for local production, according to the announcement.

Sheikh Hazza stressed the importance of accelerating the transfer of knowledge and technology to the market to support economic diversification and sustainable development in Al Ain.

The delegation also outlined the university’s advanced laboratories and research facilities, including their role in developing emerging technologies, linking research outputs to market and industry needs, and attracting global expertise and research partnerships.

The meeting reflects the UAE’s focus on strengthening higher education and research institutions as contributors to a knowledge-based economy, while connecting university innovation more closely with national economic priorities.
