Egypt’s Ministry of Industry held a roundtable with Startup Egypt and representatives of 21 startups to discuss barriers facing industrial ventures and ways to support their expansion and integration into supply chains.

The participating companies work in manufacturing technology, robotics and medical technology. Discussions focused on localising technology, connecting startups with manufacturers and increasing the use of local suppliers.

Industry Minister Khaled Hashem said the ministry is prioritising the development and production of technology in Egypt, alongside support for smaller manufacturers and startups entering the industrial sector. According to the announcement, available support includes assistance with industrial land allocation, lease-to-own arrangements, financing options, and technical advice through the Industrial Modernisation Centre.

The ministry is also developing a proposed “Value” certificate to assess how products and industrial companies contribute to the national economy. The system is intended to link incentives to performance and encourage local content, deeper manufacturing, supplier development, and investment in technology and research.

Startup Egypt founder and board chair Magued Ghonaim said the organisation groups member companies into sector-focused communities to address shared challenges and develop partnerships. The nonprofit connects Egyptian startup founders with investors, experts, companies, government bodies and universities.

The participating startups showcased industrial machinery, electronic products, electric bicycles, medical supplies and food products.
