The first Thara Connect forum in Ajman has concluded with recommendations focused on improving startup access to funding, customers and local and regional markets.
Organised by the Ajman Chamber alongside the launch of the Thara investment and entrepreneurship ecosystem, the forum brought together government representatives, investors, founders, experts and economic institutions at the Thara Entrepreneurship Centre. Discussions covered government support, investment readiness, scaling challenges and market access.
The recommendations called for stronger coordination between public-sector bodies, investors and private companies, as well as expanded incubation, acceleration, mentoring and governance programmes. Participants also backed clearer performance indicators to track startup growth, sustainability, job creation and economic impact.
Thara Chairwoman Maryam Khalifa Al Nuaimi said the ecosystem is designed to connect founders with support throughout the company-building journey. It includes six specialised companies providing coworking spaces, incubation and acceleration, investment and operational solutions, and community initiatives.
According to the announcement, Thara aims over five years to generate at least AED700 million in cumulative value for Ajman’s economy, support 600 startups through Thara X, prepare more than 220 companies for investment and help startups attract AED69 million in external funding. It also targets direct investment in 71 companies and 3,135 direct jobs.
More than 45 startups entered the forum’s pitch competition. Alfredo won the AED100,000 prize.
