Jordan’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship has concluded a project that supported 697 startups and contributed to the creation of 748 jobs, according to a ministry statement.
The Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment project was launched in 2022 and implemented with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). It was co-funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union.
Of the startups supported, 427 were led by women. A total of 350 beneficiary companies reported growth in their operations.
The project concluded during the New Horizons 2026 event at the University of Jordan Academy in Amman, which brought together startups, investors, private-sector representatives and entrepreneurship support organisations. The event focused on connecting startups with potential investors and business partners, while exploring commercial and investment opportunities.
The ministry said the project helped implement Jordan’s National Entrepreneurship Policy for 2021-2027 by improving startups’ access to finance and markets, simplifying business procedures and expanding support services across the country’s governorates.
Project outcomes also included support for entrepreneurship networks in Aqaba and northern Jordan, as well as the development of a women angel investors club and a planned nationwide women’s entrepreneurship network. The project also helped establish a system to monitor and evaluate entrepreneurship initiatives and strengthened the capabilities of public-sector staff supporting entrepreneurs.
