Egypt’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center has reviewed 21 projects focused on the pharmaceutical and beauty industries as part of the closing phase of its pre-incubation program.

The center, which operates under the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, ran the three-month program with support from experts in industry, innovation and entrepreneurship. The program included 42 participants selected through its various stages.

Participants completed 72 hours of training designed to strengthen their entrepreneurial skills and develop their ideas and projects. The program also aimed to help teams move from the idea stage toward practical steps to establish businesses in the two sectors.

The judging panel included Heba Zaki, director of the center; Maha Khalil, the center’s deputy director; Mohamed Abbas, who oversees innovation, technology management and entrepreneurship at the Ministry of Industry; Bassam Al-Zahhar, chairman of Pharmacia Pharmaceutical; and Jean Hanna, deputy director of the entrepreneurship center at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.

According to the announcement, the final project reviews were intended to connect innovation with market needs and improve the readiness of emerging ventures in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
