Egyptian telecom operator WE has graduated 20 startups from its WE Innovate Star program, which supports companies developing cybersecurity and artificial intelligence solutions.

The graduation ceremony took place during Cairo ICT 2026, in cooperation with Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the National Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT). AGX Consultant implemented the program.

The cohort was selected from 83 applicants and received more than 800 hours of technical, commercial and mentoring support. The program also provided awards, in-kind services and technical assistance with a total value of EGP 5 million, according to the announcement.

Five startups received awards and support worth EGP 2.5 million in total, while eight others were recognised for excellence and innovation. The participating companies included 16 that completed product development, nine newly registered businesses, and startups that secured B2B contracts, generated revenue or attracted investor interest.

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hindi, said supporting locally developed cybersecurity and AI products could help expand digital exports and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional innovation hub.

A new edition of WE Innovate Star is scheduled to launch in November 2027. The event also saw WE sign a memorandum of understanding with e-finance for cooperation on telecommunications, digital transformation and integrated digital solutions.
