Apple has introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999 for 256GB of storage. The device was unveiled at the company’s “Surprise and Shine” iPhone event in Cupertino and is the first major product launch under CEO John Ternus.
The iPhone Duo uses a wider foldable design, with a 7.6-inch inner Retina display and a 5.4-inch outer screen. Apple said its custom nanotexture finish reduces glare and helps conceal the crease. The hinge uses more than 100 components, according to the company, while the inner display includes an under-display camera.
The phone runs on Apple’s A20 Pro chip and C2 model and is eSIM-only. It includes Touch ID instead of Face ID, a 48-megapixel main camera and a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera with 2x optical zoom.
iOS 27 has been adapted for the foldable format, including split-screen apps, paired applications and flexible use when the device is half-folded or placed on a table. Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and 44 hours with the outer screen.
Pre-orders open on October 16, with availability starting October 23. The phone will come in two colors.
