Accelerator Program Overview
The DPI Safeguards Accelerator is a cohort-based program designed to translate global DPI principles into practical, local action. It supports teams working to identify risks, involve stakeholders, and develop roadmaps for building more trusted and inclusive digital systems. The program bridges the gap between high-level frameworks and on-the-ground realities by providing the tools, expertise, and resources needed to embed safeguards directly into national DPI deployments.
Key Benefits
Selected participants will join a collaborative cohort and receive comprehensive support, including:
- Practical Resources: Access to ready-to-use tools, risk-mapping methodologies, and the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework.
- Ecosystem Expertise: Target-driven technical sprints, specialized training, and connections with global DPI experts.
- Access to Community: Peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, cohort learning sessions, and access to an international network of practitioners.
- Financial Support: Catalytic grants of up to US$70,000 to accelerate the implementation of safeguards over a 6 to 9-month period.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open through two distinct pathways for organisations working with a government on an active DPI effort:
- UN Entities Pathway: Open to United Nations agencies (including country offices) engaged with national government counterparts on a DPI initiative.
- Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Pathway: Designed for international and local civil society organisations, non-profits, or community-based entities supporting DPI implementation.
Successful applications will demonstrate a strong government partnership, meaningful integration of civil society, and a commitment to delivering measurable outputs.
Application Process
The selection is a two-stage process designed to be efficient for applicants.
- Stage 1: Initial Screening: Submit a concise online form with high-level details about your organisation, the DPI initiative, your government counterpart, and your expected outputs. Applications are reviewed in three waves, with final submissions due July 30, 2026. Early submission is highly encouraged.
- Stage 2: Detailed Proposal: Longlisted teams will be invited to submit a full proposal, including detailed activity plans, budgets, and a formal letter of support from the collaborating government agency.
How to Apply
Submit your initial application online through the appropriate pathway. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply early for the best consideration. The final deadline is July 30, 2026.
