Bahrain-based crypto brokerage and custody platform Rain Financial has acquired Digital Ma’arefa, a financial media company with a network reaching over one million followers. The move signals Rain’s strategic expansion into financial and investment media, aiming to bolster trust and financial education across the region.

A Strategic Move into Financial Media

This acquisition brings Digital Ma’arefa’s popular content platforms under Rain’s umbrella. The media company operates several specialized newsletters, including The Finance Memo, The Saudi Memo, Crypto Memo, and AI Memo, which have cultivated a large and engaged audience over the last five years.

The deal, completed on March 30, 2026, is centered on a shared goal of combining regulated financial infrastructure with credible media to build user trust.

EJ Nelson, Co-founder of Rain, commented on the deal’s rationale, stating, “Trust is invaluable. Abdullah Mashat and the Digital Ma’arefa team have established themselves as one of the most trusted voices in crypto, and we are excited to welcome them to Rain.”

Digital Ma’arefa’s newsletters and news networks are expected to continue operating without changes as the team integrates into Rain’s operations.

New Leadership to Drive Regional Growth

As part of the transaction, Digital Ma’arefa’s three co-founders—Abdullah Mashat, Wael Almutlaq, and Abdullah Faqeeh—will join the Rain team.

Rain also announced the appointment of Abdullah Mashat as Managing Director, where he will be instrumental in leading the company’s regional growth strategy and push for regulated crypto adoption.

“The Digital Ma’arefa and Rain teams share the same ambition: building trust at scale by combining financial media with regulated infrastructure,” said Abdullah Mashat.
