Dubai Rolls Out Work From The Park Initiative to Turn Green Spaces into Startup Hubs

4 Min Read

In a move that rethinks urban work environments, Dubai Municipality has launched “Work from the Park,” a new initiative designed to transform the city’s public parks into integrated, tech-enabled workspaces. The project aims to cater to the growing demand for flexible work models by blending nature with productivity, offering a new alternative to traditional offices and existing co-working spaces.

Quick Facts

  • First location is Al Barsha Park.
  • The project kicks off this May.
  • Partners include Amana Group and Letswork.

From Park Benches to Workstations

The initiative is a direct response to evolving work patterns, moving beyond concepts like “work from hotel” to establish fully functional work environments in open, natural settings. Dubai Municipality announced that the goal is to redefine public parks as multi-functional urban spaces that support not just recreation but also professional productivity and economic activity. These parks will be fitted with flexible work areas and modern technology to enhance quality of life and create more dynamic public destinations.

Al Barsha Park to Pilot the Project

Al Barsha Park is set to be the first location for the project, with the initial phase launching in May. The park will feature modular workspaces designed with high sustainability standards and integrated directly into the natural environment. Following the pilot, the municipality plans to gradually expand the initiative to other parks across the emirate. The project utilizes modular construction techniques, where units are manufactured off-site and installed efficiently, minimizing environmental impact and waste.

A Bet on Dubai’s Creative and Freelance Economy

“Work from the Park” directly targets a wide range of professionals, including entrepreneurs, freelancers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and remote workers. The move is strategically aligned with Dubai’s broader vision to foster an innovation-based economy, supporting the goals of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33.” By accommodating modern work lifestyles, the city aims to boost productivity and encourage community interaction among its professional class.

Letswork and Amana to Power Park Infrastructure

To bring the project to life, Dubai Municipality has signed cooperation agreements with Amana Group and Letswork. The partnership will focus on developing and operating the advanced infrastructure for these new park-based workspaces. Amana will leverage its expertise in modular construction to build the physical spaces, while Letswork will provide the digital platform allowing users to access a network of co-working desks, event halls, recording studios, and creative production facilities.

The initiative extends beyond providing simple workstations. It is also designed to support content creators and creative professionals by establishing dedicated “creative spaces,” including podcast studios. The program will also offer training sessions and collaborative events to foster skills development and entrepreneurship within the community.
