Dubai’s FemTech Hub Partners With LightHouse Arabia to Tackle Women’s Mental Health

4 Min Read

The Women’s Pavilion at Expo City Dubai is bringing women’s mental wellbeing to the forefront through its FemTech Hub, announcing a new collaboration with LightHouse Arabia, a community mental health and wellness center. The partnership will kick off with the latest edition of the ‘Her Health Majlis’ series on May 20, timed with Mental Health Awareness Month.

Quick Facts

  • New partnership with LightHouse Arabia.
  • Focus on women’s mental load.
  • Part of the ongoing ‘Her Health Majlis’ series.

From Surviving to Thriving

The upcoming session, titled “Minds of our own: women, mental load and the cost of staying functional,” will explore the heavy toll of hormonal shifts, caregiving, and other responsibilities on women who often operate in survival mode. LightHouse Arabia will serve as the official mental health partner for the Majlis series, contributing expert speakers and a dedicated support series, including weekly Instagram Live sessions.

Maha Gorton, Head of Women’s Pavilion, Expo City Dubai, stated, “By bringing mental health to the forefront of the conversation, the Women’s Pavilion is creating a safe space to address the strain of mental overload and dismantle the expectation that women must simply ‘cope’ with the consequences. Through this partnership with The LightHouse Arabia, we’re ensuring that women’s mental health is researched, discussed and supported as an important pillar of societal progress.”

Dr. Saliha Afridi, Founder and Chairwoman of The LightHouse Arabia, added, “Mental health is often the invisible thread that dictates a woman’s physical health and support is crucial to advancing progress in women’s wellness. By integrating clinical expertise into these monthly dialogues, we aim to shift the narrative from surviving to thriving, providing women with the tools to navigate the complexities of mental load without losing themselves in the process.”

Integrating Mental and Physical Wellness

This initiative builds on insights from a previous session on neurodivergence, which highlighted how many women mask their natural responses to meet social expectations, contributing to long-term burnout. By addressing mental wellbeing alongside physical health, the FemTech Hub aims to anchor regional innovation in the lived realities of women.

The hub is a key part of Expo City Dubai’s strategy to position itself at the center of the global femtech industry, a sector projected to reach $267 billion by 2035. The ‘Her Health Majlis’ is open to the public, providing a space for accessible, stigma-free education on women’s health issues.
