Egypt’s Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has discussed expanding private-sector participation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), focusing on energy, water and infrastructure projects.
Minister Ahmed Rostom met with Ari Naim, IFC’s director for North Africa and the Horn of Africa. Rostom said the government aims to draw on the IFC’s financing and advisory expertise, while providing technical support for priority investments.
The minister highlighted efforts to accelerate private-sector involvement in national projects and improve the regulatory and legislative environment for local and international investors.
Naim said the IFC is looking to provide technical, advisory and financing support for infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships in Egypt, as well as contribute to the country’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, according to the announcement.
The meeting also covered Egypt’s upcoming international events. Rostom invited the IFC to take part in the Global Entrepreneurship Festival GEF 2026, scheduled to take place in Cairo from November 6 to 8, 2026.
Both sides agreed to continue coordination and translate the proposed areas of cooperation into programs supporting economic growth and job creation.
