Egypt Upskills Government Leaders in AI to Drive $42.7 Billion National Strategy

3 Min Read

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the National Training Academy (NTA) have partnered to launch the Artificial Intelligence for Government Organisation Leaders National Initiative. The program is designed to equip senior public sector officials with practical AI knowledge and digital leadership skills, directly supporting the country’s ambitious National AI Strategy 2025–2030.

Quick Facts

  • New AI training for senior government leaders
  • Aligns with National AI Strategy 2025-2030
  • Aims for $42.7 billion in AI economic value

From GenAI to Digital Twins: A Future-Proof Curriculum

The initiative’s curriculum is structured to provide leaders with both foundational knowledge and an understanding of frontier technologies already reshaping public services globally. The training covers four core areas: strategic leadership in the AI era, generative AI, agentic AI, and digital twins.

This approach ensures that officials can make informed decisions about technology deployment. The program also focuses heavily on the frameworks required for responsible AI implementation, including cybersecurity, data governance, and the ethical use of AI in institutional operations.

Beyond Theory: Building Practical AI Governance

The program emphasizes applied outcomes over purely theoretical learning. Participants will engage in hands-on training and complete graduation projects, a clear indicator of the initiative’s goal to produce tangible results. Pre- and post-assessments will measure the development of skills and knowledge.

The initiative targets three primary institutional outcomes: improving efficiency across government bodies, expanding AI skills across public institutions, and encouraging new business models that meet international digital standards. This practical focus is critical for ensuring Egypt’s AI strategy delivers real economic value by enabling leaders to govern and deploy AI effectively.

Powering Egypt’s National AI Ambitions

This AI-focused program is the next phase of a successful partnership between the MCIT and NTA, building on their previous collaboration, the Digital Egypt Leaders National Initiative. It represents a targeted effort to build the leadership capacity necessary to achieve the goals of the National AI Strategy 2025–2030.

Launched in January 2025, the strategy aims to increase the ICT sector’s GDP contribution to 7.7%, generate $42.7 billion in AI-related economic value, and establish over 250 AI companies. It also sets a target of developing a national talent pool of 30,000 AI professionals by 2030, all guided by the ethical principles of the Egyptian Charter for Responsible AI.

About The National Training Academy

The National Training Academy is an independent institution focused on developing transformative leaders across various disciplines. Its mandate extends beyond Egypt, addressing challenges and opportunities facing the African continent.
