Egypt’s Thndr Unveils AI-Powered Investing and Digital Gold in Major Product Expansion

4 Min Read

Egyptian digital investment platform Thndr revealed a significant strategic shift and a suite of new products at its latest keynote in Cairo, moving its focus from simply providing market access to empowering investors with sophisticated tools and guidance. The company’s vision centers on adapting to the evolving needs of individual investors with offerings that include commission-free funds, digital gold, and integrated artificial intelligence.

Quick Facts

  • Commission-free investment funds announced for the platform.
  • New AI tools for customer support and portfolio analysis.
  • Digital gold fund launched, with a payment card planned.

Beyond Market Access

For years, the core promise of fintech was access. Thndr argues that this is no longer sufficient. As more individuals enter the financial markets, the new challenge is navigating complexity. The company’s keynote framed its latest launches around the idea that investment platforms must evolve to help users understand, manage, and act on financial opportunities, not just provide entry points.

New Asset Classes: Gold and Real Estate

Reflecting the preferences of local investors, Thndr unveiled a gold investment fund, allowing users to invest in 24-karat gold at market prices, starting from as little as a milligram. The product is Shariah-compliant and carries a 1% transaction fee.

This builds on the platform’s existing fund offerings, which the company revealed have already attracted over EGP 30 million in investments to date. To further lower the barrier to entry, Thndr also announced it is removing all commissions on investment funds available on its app.

Additionally, a real estate investment fund is on the company’s roadmap and is currently in the licensing phase with Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority.

Integrating AI for Smarter Investing

Artificial intelligence was a central theme of the event. Thndr introduced Bolt, an AI-powered support tool trained on the company’s products and the Egyptian investment context to resolve user issues.

The company also showcased updates to Alpha, its guided investing feature. The upgraded version can now analyze portfolios, answer user questions, and generate actionable investment plans, effectively acting as an AI co-pilot for investors.

Research, Payments, and a New Interface

To support its growing ecosystem, Thndr introduced a redesigned application that unifies stocks, funds, and wallet functions into a single experience.

A new dedicated research platform, Rumble, was also announced to provide insights and analysis separate from the trading interface, with plans for future community features.

The keynote concluded with the announcement of the Thndr Card, a payment card being developed in partnership with Suez Canal Bank, Visa, and Modupay. The card remains subject to approval from the Central Bank of Egypt.
