Jordan’s National Agricultural Research Center has completed a training course for 44 agricultural engineers from Irbid and Amman, focusing on hydroponics and integrated aquaculture.
Organised with the Jordan Engineers Association under the FrontAg Nexus project, the course combined technical instruction with field training at Al Hussein Agricultural Research Station and the Ramtha Agricultural Research Center.
Participants learned about hydroponic system components, nutrient solution preparation, water quality management and aquaculture fundamentals. The programme also explored how plant and fish production can be integrated into a single system.
Titled “Integrated Hydroponics and Aquaculture: From Basic Principles to Entrepreneurship Opportunities,” the course also examined how these technologies could support new agricultural businesses and improve the efficiency of water and resource use.
The training is part of a national capacity-building programme for early-career agricultural engineers. By combining research-station training with exposure to practical applications, the initiative aims to help participants translate their academic knowledge into agricultural work and potential business opportunities.
