In a move to strengthen Oman’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, Sohar International has partnered with the Youth Projects Development Fund (Sharakah) to launch the second edition of the Sohar International Women SME Development Program. The initiative aims to accelerate the growth of women-led small and medium enterprises by focusing on technology adoption and business digitalization, reflecting a broader national push for a more inclusive and diversified economy.
Quick Facts
- Supports a cohort of 10 women-led SMEs.
- Focuses on digitalization and the manufacturing sector.
- An eight-month mentorship and development program.
Building on Past Success
The decision to renew the program follows a successful first edition, with the new version incorporating key learnings and feedback. The partnership underscores a commitment to addressing the evolving needs of Oman’s SME landscape, where digital skills and access to robust support systems are increasingly critical.
“The decision to advance this program into a second edition is grounded in both its demonstrated impact and the evolving needs of Oman’s SME ecosystem,” said Dr. Mazin Al Raisi, Chief Marketing Officer at Sohar International. “Through our collaboration with Sharakah, we are extending a development model that integrates practical skill-building with direct exposure to industry expertise and institutional perspectives.”
A Refined Approach to Growth
The eight-month program will target a select group of 10 women-led SMEs that have been operational for at least 18 months. This second edition places a stronger emphasis on enterprises in the manufacturing sector, recognizing the industry’s potential in Oman’s economic diversification strategy.
The core curriculum retains its focus on digitalization, mentorship, and business planning. However, refinements based on participant insights from the initial rollout have been integrated to enhance the program’s practical impact and equip founders with the tools needed to navigate a competitive business environment.
Connecting Founders with Industry Expertise
To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, the new edition introduces several enhancements. Participants will engage in a series of webinars led by industry experts covering digital transformation and current entrepreneurship trends.
Furthermore, the program will facilitate direct mentor involvement from Sohar International staff and provide unique networking opportunities through curated luncheons with the bank’s leadership. These elements are designed to offer founders direct access to strategic insights that can inform critical business decisions and drive growth.
