Personal AI Assistant Tab Launches at $300M Valuation

Tab, a new personal AI assistant, has emerged from stealth at a $300M valuation as consumer-focused AI tools compete to manage everyday tasks. The company said it has not disclosed the exact funding amount.

Founded earlier this year by Brennan Erbz, Stafford Schlitt and Ammar Amdani, Tab lets users send requests through iMessage or WhatsApp. It can handle tasks such as ordering groceries, finding birthday presents, making bookings and placing calls, according to Amdani.

The company said its investors include SV Angel, Valar Ventures and American Spirit. Amdani told TechCrunch that Tab is currently growing mainly through word of mouth and plans to launch another product soon.

Tab is positioning trust as a core part of its product. The company said user data is not used to train AI, payment cards are held in a vault that Tab cannot access, and actions that cannot be undone require user approval.

Amdani said the challenge for consumer AI assistants is not only expanding their capabilities, but earning enough trust for users to give them access to messages, calls and purchases.
