Qatar-founded education technology startup BuzzGage has reported early improvements in students’ perceptions of discipline, accountability and conflict after delivering a restorative education programme at a state-funded secondary school in London.
The company used its student voice measurement framework to assess how students experienced discipline and conflict before designing the intervention. The platform measures factors including wellbeing, engagement, leadership and school culture, rather than relying only on detentions, suspensions, attendance or academic performance.
The school’s Restorative Culture Factor Index rose from 61 to 66 out of 100 by the end of the term, moving from BuzzGage’s “Developing” category to “Consolidating.” Six of eight grade sections recorded improvements, with some of the strongest gains in groups where the programme was implemented most consistently, according to the company.
Students reviewed the findings through tutor sessions and worked on de-escalation, restorative communication, conflict resolution and personal accountability. They also developed shared behavioural commitments for use in classrooms and ongoing discussions.
BuzzGage said the results should be treated as early evidence. The evaluation was conducted internally, had no control group and has not undergone independent peer review. The company recommends further measurement cycles and more independent or controlled evaluations.
Founded in Qatar, BuzzGage said its platform covers more than 120 indicators and has supported over 250,000 students across more than 10 education systems.
