Syria’s Ministry of Economy and Industry has moved to expand its network of bilateral business councils, with new structures involving Egypt and Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening trade, investment and private sector cooperation.
The Egyptian-Syrian Business Council was formally launched in Damascus by Economy and Industry Minister Nidal Al-Shaar, with the goal of strengthening economic and commercial ties between business communities in both countries and opening new opportunities for investment and partnerships.
The council follows an earlier ministerial decision to establish the Syrian side of the Syrian-Egyptian Business Council as part of efforts to organise and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Ministry has also issued a decision establishing the Syrian-Uzbek Business Council, appointing Ahmad Anas Kalash as chairman alongside a new leadership team responsible for managing the council’s activities.
The Syrian-Uzbek council will operate under the framework governing Syria’s joint business councils and will serve as the officially recognised Syrian business council for economic relations with Uzbekistan.
The Ministry has been expanding this model across additional markets. Earlier in September, it also issued a decision establishing a Syrian-Ukrainian Business Council.
The councils are intended to coordinate private sector engagement, support trade and investment links and connect Syrian businesses with counterparts in international markets.
