The University of Dubai has kicked off the fourth edition of its Entrepreneurship Competition 2026, an initiative designed to foster innovation and help young talent transform creative concepts into market-ready ventures. The competition focuses on projects that contribute to sustainable development goals, opening a direct channel for aspiring founders to gain support.

Bridging Academia with Venture Building

Registration for the competition is now open, targeting university students, alumni who have graduated within the last five years, and researchers with viable ideas in sustainability. To prepare participants, the university is hosting a series of specialized workshops and sessions to help teams refine their ideas and structure their pitches.

Winners will receive a package of support including project funding, placement in business incubators, and direct networking opportunities with industry leaders, investors, and key decision-makers. The competition’s final pitches and judging will take place on May 1, 2026, at the university’s campus in Academic City.

A Strategic Push for UAE’s Knowledge Economy

Dr. Eesa Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, emphasized the competition’s role as a key platform for advancing innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.

“The competition represents a strategic platform to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship at the national level,” said Dr. Bastaki. He noted its importance in “empowering youth to turn their ideas into successful projects that support building a sustainable and diversified economy, in line with the UAE’s vision.”

Access to Mentorship and Market Entry

The program aims to provide more than just capital, offering a structured environment for mentorship and strategic guidance.

According to Eng. Mohammed Aboud, the General Supervisor of the competition, the initiative helps participants gain market access. He explained that the university’s incubator, which is connected to the Mohammed bin Rashid programme for SME Development, creates a clear pathway for startups to reach customers and scale their operations.
