Silicon Waha for Technology Zones has held the sixth edition of its Waha Connect event at the technology zone in New Borg El Arab, Egypt, bringing together government representatives, industry leaders, universities, entrepreneurs, innovators and young talent.
The event featured two panel discussions focused on technology and economic development. “When Factories Think” examined smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence and data-driven industrial operations, while “She Means Technology,” organised with Egypt’s National Council for Women, explored women’s role in technology leadership and entrepreneurship.
Waha Connect also hosted the closing ceremony of the Tech for Impact Hackathon, organised through the Information Technology Industry Development Agency, which supports young people developing technology solutions to social challenges. Rubex International provided financial support for the competition’s prizes, according to the announcement.
The programme included student projects from Borg El Arab Technological University and Alexandria University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, along with exhibitions of handicrafts and creative products. Shorouk Bookstores also participated with a book display.
According to Silicon Waha, the event aims to connect government, business, academia and entrepreneurs, while positioning technology zones as broader platforms for innovation, education, industry and entrepreneurship beyond Egypt’s capital.
