Oman Launches $265 Million AI Zone to Attract Global Startups

Oman has announced the establishment of its first Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies Zone, a major new development in Muscat backed by an estimated OMR 100 million ($265 million) investment. The project, unveiled at the COMEX International Exhibition, is a strategic initiative designed to transform the Sultanate into a regional hub for AI, innovation, and future-focused enterprises.

The zone is being developed through a landmark partnership between Oman’s Afouq Developments, Egypt’s Prime Group, and Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT).

Spanning 100,000 square meters, the hub will aim to attract both local and international startups, providing them with state-of-the-art infrastructure and a supportive ecosystem to help them scale.

Siham Al-Harthi, Chairperson of Afouq Developments, described the initiative as a dedicated environment that will empower startups to create world-class solutions.


Building a Global Ecosystem

The project has a distinct international focus, leveraging a cross-border partnership with Egypt’s Prime Group to bring global expertise to the Sultanate. The zone’s strategy includes forging active partnerships with international corporations, accelerators, and research institutions to build a globally competitive and interconnected ecosystem from the ground up.

“The global scope of the project will include partnerships with international corporations, accelerators, and research institutions,” emphasized Mahmoud Farrag, CEO of Prime Group.
