The 4th Arab Youth Tech Fellowship Programme, an initiative by the Arab Youth Center, is currently underway at the Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy, uniting 23 young innovators from eight Arab nations. The 12-day program brings together talent from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, and Morocco to explore four key tracks: Artificial Intelligence, Health Technology, Climate Tech & Sustainability, and Web3.
AI and Digital Twins Take Center Stage
The fellowship’s second day, dedicated to Health Tech, showcased the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in revolutionizing healthcare across the Arab world. Sessions emphasized how intelligent systems can significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline patient care, and improve operational efficiency in medical facilities.
Dr. Bashayer Mohammed Mousa from the University of Sharjah presented recent breakthroughs in AI-driven medical research, illustrating how smart data applications are creating new paradigms for diagnostics and personalized treatment planning. She highlighted AI’s capacity to translate complex medical analysis into actionable data, paving the way for new research opportunities for Arab innovators.
Gulf’s First Human Digital Twin Unveiled
A landmark moment of the fellowship was the first-ever demonstration of a Human Digital Twin in the Gulf region. Presented remotely by Dr. Jamil El-Imad from Imperial College London, the interactive session revealed how digital twin technology can create a virtual replica of the human body.
This innovation enables real-time monitoring of vital signs, prediction of disease progression, and the virtual testing of treatments without physical trials. The technology holds immense promise for optimizing healthcare resources, reducing reliance on costly traditional testing, and enhancing the overall sustainability of health systems.
Fostering Entrepreneurial Skills
Beyond technical deep dives, the program equipped participants with essential business acumen. Hind Khalifat from Daraya Speaker Platform led a workshop on “Startups: Pitching and Storytelling Skills,” providing fellows with practical strategies for effectively communicating their ideas to investors and incubators. The day concluded with a visit to the startup accelerator StartAD, offering participants a firsthand look into the UAE’s thriving innovation ecosystem, acceleration frameworks, and the opportunities available for Arab talent within the nation’s rapidly growing digital economy.
