Sharjah Unveils AI-Powered Sustainability Initiatives at GITEX Global 2025

At GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, the Government of Sharjah is demonstrating its commitment to a tech-driven future with a showcase of pioneering digital projects aimed at advancing environmental sustainability. Under the theme ‘Powered by Tech, Driven by People,’ the emirate is presenting its digital transformation journey through a series of innovations that integrate food production, public health, and environmental quality.

Boosting Digital Foundations

To strengthen its technological backbone, the Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) announced a strategic partnership agreement with e&. The collaboration is focused on enhancing the government’s network infrastructure with advanced technologies, boosting connectivity, and supporting sustainable digital development across the emirate. This partnership underscores Sharjah’s strategy of building robust digital foundations to enable future innovations.

AI-Powered Urban Green Spaces

Khorfakkan Municipality unveiled its Khorfakkan Smart Gardens project, an ambitious initiative set to transform city parks into responsive and sustainable environments. The project integrates nine AI-powered technologies to optimize operational workflows, enhance the management of green spaces, and improve visitor experiences. By leveraging edge AI processing and scalable hardware, the system aims to increase efficiency and strengthen security measures in public parks.

Digitizing Agriculture and Food Security

The Department of Agriculture and Livestock introduced two key projects designed to bolster the emirate’s food security and agricultural sustainability. The first, AgriHub, is a comprehensive digital platform that provides accurate, real-time data and analytics to help decision-makers implement science-based strategies for enhancing productivity and environmental balance. The department also showcased ‘Ektifa – Supply Chain Automation,’ a project that uses the Internet of Things (IoT) and industrial automation to modernize agricultural operations. This system integrates data-driven applications across key facilities, including the Maliha factory and Fili poultry farms, to improve product quality and advance food security in Sharjah and the UAE.
