Dubai Internet City Forges Global Partnerships To Boost Digital Economy

Dubai Internet City, a member of TECOM Group and the region’s largest tech hub, has reinforced its commitment to advancing the global digital economy through a series of strategic discussions and partnerships at the recent GITEX GLOBAL. Acting as the event’s Knowledge Partner, the tech hub engaged with global government and industry leaders to strengthen international collaboration and drive innovation across the sector.

Fostering Global Dialogue at GITEX

During GITEX GLOBAL, Dubai Internet City hosted high-level delegations from Asia, Europe, and North America to explore avenues for strengthening the global digital economy. Key strategic meetings were held with officials and decision-makers from Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, and India. These discussions focused on attracting top-tier talent, experts, and innovators across various technology fields, further solidifying Dubai’s position as a premier destination for tech excellence.

Strategic Partnership with Skolkovo Foundation

In a significant move to expand its international network, Dubai Internet City signed a strategic partnership with the Skolkovo Foundation, part of the VEB.RF Group. This collaboration is designed to empower innovative tech companies and startups from the foundation’s ecosystem, providing them with a platform to pursue regional expansion plans and contribute to the local innovation landscape. Ammar Al Malik, Executive Vice President of Commercial at TECOM Group and Managing Director of Dubai Internet City, emphasized the importance of such collaborations in enabling talent and technological innovations that are crucial for a digitally transformed future.

A Cornerstone of Dubai’s Digital Economy

Since its establishment in 1999, Dubai Internet City has been a pivotal force in the region’s digital transformation. The hub contributes approximately 65% of the tech sector’s GDP in Dubai and has added AED 100 billion to the emirate’s economy over the last 15 years. It is home to over 4,000 regional and global companies, including Fortune 500 giants like Google, Meta, PayPal, Nvidia, and Oracle, which collectively employ more than 31,000 professionals. This vibrant ecosystem, aligned with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), continues to attract leading tech players from around the world.

Showcasing Homegrown Innovation

The tech hub also used its platform at GITEX GLOBAL to spotlight innovators from its community. Startups such as Witify, an AI-powered customer engagement specialist, and Kinstix, an AI-based fitness company, were featured. Both companies are graduates of in5, TECOM Group’s tech-focused incubator located within Dubai Internet City. During the event, in5 announced that its community of over 1,100 startups has collectively secured more than AED 9 billion in funding since its inception in 2013, highlighting the incubator’s success in nurturing entrepreneurial talent.
