In a move to bolster Jordan’s grassroots entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Business Development Center (BDC), in partnership with Tafila Technical University, has celebrated the graduation of 20 young men and women from its Economic Empowerment project in the Tafilah Governorate. The initiative, supported by UNICEF, aims to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary skills to launch their own income-generating ventures and foster self-employment.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Tafilah Business Incubator on the university campus, where participants received their training certificates.
An Intensive Curriculum for Self-Employment
The cohort completed a specialized ten-day training program designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in business creation and management. The curriculum was strategically divided into two phases, dedicating the first five days to entrepreneurship principles and project management.
The subsequent five days focused intensely on financial management, covering crucial topics such as community entrepreneurship, economic feasibility studies, and the mechanics of writing effective project proposals. This structure was designed to empower participants to enter the labor market with confidence and the practical tools needed for success.
Fostering Grassroots Innovation
The training emphasized interactive activities and practical applications to develop participants’ skills in both entrepreneurship and financial planning. Several graduates highlighted how the program provided them with tangible knowledge and tools, enabling them to transform their innovative ideas into actionable and viable production projects.
This hands-on approach is critical for building a sustainable pipeline of new businesses outside of the capital, directly contributing to local economic development.
A National Vision for Economic Empowerment
Nayef Stetieh, founder of the Business Development Center and former Minister of Labor, reiterated the center’s commitment to supporting youth across all of Jordan’s governorates. He emphasized that such training programs and initiatives are essential for enhancing the economic capabilities of young people and opening up pathways for self-employment.
This work aligns directly with Jordan’s broader Economic Modernization Vision, which seeks to unlock the potential of its youth and drive sustainable growth.
