The Syrian Trade Corporation’s board has approved its investment plan and budget for 2027, with a focus on improving performance, strengthening investment and making better use of the organisation’s assets.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Maher Khalil al-Hassan and attended by the corporation’s director general, Amer Qassoum, according to the ministry.
The board also approved the sale of stationery and electrical goods to state employees through instalment payments at discounted prices. It discussed settling the corporation’s outstanding payments to suppliers through offsetting arrangements based on available goods and assets.
Qassoum said the corporation had paid SYP 115 billion of its debt to the private sector and was working to close the remaining debt file by expanding investment. He said the organisation had moved from losses to generating surpluses and profits by reorganising its real estate and transport fleet, including using the fleet to transport gas and grain.
The corporation also plans to rehabilitate and maintain its refrigeration units and invest in them. Hassan called for identifying profitable investments and preparing the necessary feasibility studies, particularly as the corporation owns substantial assets across Syria.
