In a significant move to foster local economic growth and empower women, a new entrepreneurship program in Luxor has successfully trained 15 young women. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Luxor Governorate’s Youth Graduates Agency, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), and the Mokhtalef Foundation for Sustainable Development, aimed at embedding a strong entrepreneurial culture in the region.
The program was executed under the patronage of Luxor’s Governor, Abdelmuttaleb Amara, reflecting a high-level commitment to creating new avenues for economic participation and self-employment for the region’s youth.
A Partnership for Empowerment
This training program highlights a strategic partnership between key governmental and non-governmental bodies. The joint effort was led by Sherine Talaat, Director of the Youth Graduates Agency; Montaser Abdel Rahim, Director of MSMEDA’s Luxor branch; and Karima Al-Tohamy, the provincial head of the Mokhtalef Foundation for Sustainable Development.
By pooling their resources and expertise, these organizations aim to provide targeted support that addresses the specific needs of aspiring female entrepreneurs in Upper Egypt, opening up new horizons for independent work and business ownership.
Building a Foundation for Future Founders
The training curriculum was designed and delivered by Dr. Arafa Muhammad Al-Ramli, a non-financial services official at MSMEDA. The sessions provided a comprehensive toolkit for the participants, covering critical aspects of launching and managing a business.
Key topics included the core concepts of entrepreneurship, methodologies for generating viable project ideas, and the fundamentals of conducting simplified feasibility studies. The women were also trained in essential skills for planning and managing small-scale projects, equipping them with the practical knowledge needed to transform their ideas into successful ventures.
Fostering Sustainable Growth
The program received highly positive feedback from the 15 participants, who praised the quality of the training content and its direct relevance to their ambitions. The initiative has been recognized as a crucial step in developing their capabilities and providing them with a clear path toward establishing sustainable and successful businesses.
Organizers have affirmed their commitment to continuing this collaboration, with plans to roll out more training programs that target both young women and men. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to establish entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic development throughout the Luxor governorate.
