In a significant academic achievement for Bahrain, Dr. Reem Jassim has advanced the global discourse on Arab female entrepreneurship through her advanced doctoral dissertation at Germany’s Friedrich Schiller University Jena. The research provides critical insights into the dynamics shaping the journey of women founders across the MENA region.
The dissertation, titled “Religiosity and Female Entrepreneurship: Growth, Digital Strategies, and Resilience in Arab-Islamic Contexts,” was completed as a cumulative thesis. This modern academic model involves producing a series of peer-reviewed papers intended for publication in top-tier international scientific journals, all unified under a single theoretical and methodological framework.
A Deep Dive Into Growth and Resilience
Dr. Jassim’s study offers a nuanced exploration of the intersection between religiosity, economic growth, digital strategy adoption, and resilience among female entrepreneurs in Arab-Islamic societies. By moving beyond traditional analysis, the research presents an applied scientific contribution designed to directly inform and benefit economic and development policymakers aiming to foster a more inclusive and robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The findings provide a valuable framework for understanding the unique challenges and strengths of women-led ventures in the region, offering a data-driven perspective for ecosystem builders, support organizations, and investors.
A New Benchmark for Bahraini Research
The accomplishment was lauded by Professor Abdullah Al-Hawaj, the Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Ahlia University.
“This research reflects the level of excellence achieved by young Bahraini academic talent and embodies the importance of investing in specialized scientific research,” stated Professor Al-Hawaj, noting that academic research is a strategic priority within Al-Ahlia University’s vision.
Dr. Reem Jassim commented that the achievement was the result of a long and intensive research journey.
“The study’s findings offer added value to academic institutions, decision-makers, and entities concerned with supporting female entrepreneurship in the region,” she explained.
This academic excellence is further underscored by Dr. Jassim receiving two “Best Research Paper” awards from the prestigious Babson College in the United States. Her continued work in publishing the dissertation’s outcomes in high-impact international journals is actively enhancing Bahrain’s research presence in the global academic community.
