The Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project (GGJAP) has officially unveiled the 26 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) selected for its fourth cohort in Egypt. This initiative, part of the Danish-Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with Flat6Labs and New Silk Roads. The program is designed to empower Egyptian startups that are driving the country’s transition to a green economy by providing them with the necessary tools to scale their innovative business models.
Accelerating Egypt’s Green Transition
The fourth cohort represents a diverse range of sectors, including AgriTech, EdTech, manufacturing, and waste management. These companies are being accelerated to refine their green growth business cases, improve their access to financing, and leverage digital learning initiatives to catalyze their impact. By integrating job creation for young people into their sustainable operations, these SMEs are positioned to play a pivotal role in Egypt’s broader climate and economic goals.
The 26 Startups Shaping the Future
The selected startups for this cohort include a mix of emerging and established players in the sustainability space. Notable names include AlProtein, a biotech firm developing plant-based protein alternatives, and Carbonera, which specializes in producing advanced carbon materials from agricultural waste. Other participants include Nile Recycling, a company focused on rPET production and circular economy consulting, and Ostafandy, a construction-tech platform streamlining home renovations.
