Abu Dhabi-based global investment firm BlueFive Capital has announced the final closing of its Onyx Fund I, a $3 billion fund registered with the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). The fund will target technology and growth capital investments in the United States and Europe.
Bridging GCC Capital with Western Innovation
The Onyx Fund is strategically anchored by opportunistic sovereign capital from across the GCC. This reflects a growing regional ambition to gain high-conviction exposure to foundational technological shifts in Western markets, aligning with the long-term investment priorities of the Gulf.
The fund will focus on businesses at the forefront of innovation, where disruptive potential is matched by scalable commercial applications. BlueFive Capital has indicated it expects to undertake a number of new investments in the US in the coming months.
A Strategic Focus on Deep Tech
The investment thesis for the Onyx Fund is centered on what the firm identifies as critical inflection points in technology. BlueFive Capital will specifically target companies in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and advanced computing.
“The Onyx Fund aims to target the current inflection points in both computational and biological intelligence, allowing us to partner with visionary entrepreneurs who are defining the next technological epoch,” said Hazem Ben-Gacem, Founder and Chief Executive of BlueFive Capital. “ADGM provides the ideal forward-looking regulatory ecosystem to anchor a fund of this global ambition.”
