The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has launched an investment tender offering up naming rights to five of its main metro stations, creating a significant new commercial opportunity for local and international brands within the capital’s sprawling public transport network. The move signals a strategic push to monetize key infrastructure assets.
Quick Facts
- Tender for naming rights of five metro stations
- Contracts will last for more than 10 years
- Bidding is open to local and global investors
A New Commercial Frontier
The tender, which is open to both local and global private-sector investors, covers the initial phase of the program. The stations included are Al-Murooj, Al-Nuzha, King Fahd District 1, Al-Rabie, and Jarir District.
Interested parties can submit bids online until May 10, after which the Royal Commission will review the proposals and announce the winners. The contracts for the naming rights are set to extend for more than a decade, offering brands long-term visibility across the city.
The Economic Ripple Effect
Riyadh Metro, recognized as the world’s largest fully driverless transit system, has demonstrated its impact since its 2025 launch. It has served approximately 120 million passengers while maintaining an on-time performance rate of 99.8 percent, according to figures released in late 2025.
The metro’s influence extends beyond transit. AGBI previously reported that property prices near metro stations have appreciated faster than in other parts of the city. This has not gone unnoticed by investors, who are actively tracking the development of new lines and station locations.
Next Stop: Expansion
The Kingdom is also advancing plans for the metro’s expansion. Work is scheduled to begin this year on the first phase of a seventh line. This new route will connect the Diriyah Gate development in the north with the Qiddiya entertainment project in the southwest, further integrating the city’s key economic and cultural hubs.
