Sensthings, a Moroccan deep-tech startup spun out of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), has secured a significant international certification for its advanced antenna technology, positioning the company to compete in the global electromagnetic security market. The certification validates its high-sensitivity antennas designed for real-time, high-precision detection of radio frequency (RF) signals.
Quick Facts
- UM6P spin-off Sensthings receives international certification.
- The tech detects sensitive radio frequency signals.
- Key markets include cybersecurity and anti-cheating solutions.
A Global Stamp of Approval
The startup’s technology received a certificate of conformity from BTL Inc. under the ANSI/IEEE Std 149, a rigorous international standard for measuring antenna and electromagnetic system performance.
According to Moroccan engineer Hafid Krika, this accreditation is more than just a technical acknowledgment. He noted in a press statement that it “reflects Sensthings’ arrival at an advanced level of technological maturity recognized globally in the design of specialized antenna systems and sensors.”
The Tech Behind the “T3 Shield”
The newly certified antennas, which include both high-gain and low-gain models, are the core component of the company’s flagship system, the T3 Shield.
This system allows for “precise and immediate detection of radio frequency signals, whether it’s monitoring espionage attempts in sensitive environments or detecting electronic cheating devices inside examination halls,” Krika explained.
He stressed that the effectiveness of these solutions depends entirely on the accuracy of the antennas, stating that any flaw in this foundational component makes achieving the required performance levels impossible.
Targeting High-Stakes Environments
Rafik El Alami, engineer and co-founder of Sensthings, clarified that the T3 Shield system is primarily designed for environments where radio signal security has become a critical necessity rather than an option.
El Alami pointed to strategic meeting rooms, command centers, and critical infrastructure as key targets. He also highlighted the education sector, where increasingly sophisticated electronic cheating methods demand more advanced detection tools. The startup’s success underscores the growing trend of Moroccan universities acting as incubators for globally competitive technology ventures.
