The 12th edition of the Syria HiTech International Exhibition for Information and Communication Technology has officially concluded at the Damascus Fairgrounds, marking a significant milestone for the country’s digital infrastructure. The event, organized by the Arabian Group for Exhibitions and Conferences under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Technology, served as a high-level assembly for tech leaders, resulting in 25 major strategic deals aimed at modernizing cloud computing, data centers, and academic integration across the Syrian Arab Republic.
Strategic Alliances For Cloud Infrastructure And Academic Growth
A central highlight of the event was the multi-layered strategy led by Majad Technical Services. The firm signed a landmark agreement with Damascus University’s Faculty of Information Technology to provide students with free access to advanced cloud computing infrastructure. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application, allowing students to conduct research and complete graduation projects on global-standard systems.
Furthermore, Majad entered into a tripartite memorandum of understanding with CanaGulf, a specialist in international IT security certification, and the Uptime Institute. This alliance focuses on developing Syrian data centers according to rigorous international standards, aiming to secure global certifications that will bolster the reliability of local digital services and automate government and private sector operations.
Empowering Local Software Development And Specialized Tech
To further the local digital ecosystem, Majad solidified a partnership with Rou’a, a Syrian digital solutions provider. This collaboration enables Rou’a to build and scale its applications using Majad’s advanced cloud infrastructure, specifically tailored to meet the localized needs of Syrian institutions.
In the hardware and surveillance sector, the Integrated Business Center for Cameras and Surveillance Equipment inked a partnership with global giant UNV (Uniview). This agreement aims to streamline the distribution of professional video surveillance solutions across Syrian provinces, ensuring that local distributors and consumers have access to reliable technical support and authentic after-sales services despite ongoing import challenges.
Sector-Specific Digital Shifts In Transport And Religious Affairs
The exhibition also showcased the public sector’s commitment to modernization. The Ministry of Transport, represented by Minister Yaroub Badr, detailed a comprehensive digital roadmap including the centralization of vehicle registration databases and the implementation of electronic queuing systems to reduce administrative burdens.
Parallelly, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) unveiled a suite of digital tools including:
- Masjedak: A mobile application linking users to mosque services.
- Mooquta: A precise platform for prayer timings.
- Manara: An integrated digital system for managing educational and administrative processes in Sharia schools.
- Mosque Reconstruction Platform: A transparent database for tracking the restoration of damaged religious sites and managing donations.
High Engagement And Future Outlook
The four-day event drew over 18,500 specialized visitors, including VCs, academic delegations, and government officials. Featuring 150 companies representing 345 brands from 45 countries, HiTech 12 acted as a vital barometer for the region’s tech appetite. Hala Al-Shorbagi, the exhibition director, noted that the success of this edition has already led to early registrations for the 13th edition, which is expected to feature expanded exhibition spaces to accommodate the growing interest from international tech firms looking to enter the Syrian market.
