Spain-based outsourcing company Konecta has opened its regional headquarters and first global generative AI centre of excellence in New Cairo as part of a planned $100M investment in Egypt, according to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The facility will serve markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas, offering digital customer experience, AI, data analytics, technical support and Internet of Things services.
Konecta currently employs 800 Egyptian specialists at the site, providing services in Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. The company plans to reach 1,000 employees by the end of this year and approximately 3,000 by the end of 2028.
During the inauguration, officials reviewed solutions developed by the company, including its “Kolibri” agentic AI platform. The ministry said the centre supports Egypt’s efforts to attract outsourcing investment and export advanced digital services.
Konecta’s Middle East and Africa vice chairperson Ahmed Al-Harrany said Egypt now serves as both the company’s regional headquarters and home to its first global generative AI centre. The expansion follows a memorandum of understanding signed with ITIDA in January 2025.
Founded in Madrid in 1999, Konecta operates in 28 countries and provides services in 40 languages. The company said the Egypt expansion is part of a wider plan to accelerate global AI adoption.
