MNT Investments B.V., the Dutch parent of Egyptian fintech MNT-Halan, has subscribed to a capital increase of more than $71 million in MNT Tech Holding, raising its stake to 80%.
The parent company bought around 163 million new shares at EGP 24.5 each. The transaction increased MNT Tech Holding’s issued capital from EGP 160 million to EGP 176.3 million, bringing total shares to 1.76 billion.
According to founder and CEO Mounir Nakhla, most of the funding will support expansion in Egypt, strengthen the company’s balance sheet and increase lending activity. The company also operates in Turkey and is anticipating an acquisition in an Arab country.
The capital increase follows MNT-Halan’s IPO on the Egyptian Exchange, which raised $144 million through the sale of 20% of its shares. The offering attracted more than 300 investors from 10 countries, while the stock rose 18% on its first trading day amid demand worth $2.3 billion.
MNT-Halan said its platform served around 7.9 million customers and provided more than EGP 178 billion in financing as of mid-2026. The transaction remains subject to approval from Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority, the Egyptian Exchange and Misr for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry.
