Orange Money, the e-wallet operated by Orange Jordan, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Middle East Insurance Company (MEICO) to develop insurance products that users can access and purchase through the wallet’s app.
The partnership will see MEICO’s “Haseen” product integrated into Orange Money, with the companies aiming to expand insurance access and support Jordan’s digital transformation. According to the announcement, the product was developed following a hackathon organised last year by the UNDP in partnership with the Central Bank of Jordan, the Jordan Insurance Federation, the Institute of Banking Studies and the FinTech Academy.
Orange Money said the agreement will combine digital financial services with insurance solutions designed around users’ needs, while MEICO described the integration as part of its digital transformation and efforts to make protection more accessible through trusted digital channels.
Orange Money has more than 1.7 million registered wallets and a market share exceeding 50%, according to the announcement. The company also said its wallet recorded the highest volume and value of transactions through Jordan’s CliQ payment system.
