Emirati chef and entrepreneur Abeer Al Louz has built two ventures that combine culinary creativity, chocolate and pastry making with hands-on learning experiences in the UAE.
Al Louz founded Artocolate in 2009 while working in banking, creating a platform focused on chocolate and pastry innovation. In 2012, she joined an entrepreneurship diploma program run by the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises.
She launched her second venture, Tajriba, in 2019 to deliver interactive cooking and baking workshops for different age groups, including people of determination. The project has worked with several government entities and supported community initiatives, including workshops for children in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Thailand, Al Louz also develops recipes and collaborates with public and community organisations on culinary events and cultural initiatives.
She said her first training experience came in 2018 through the Red Crescent’s “Art and Peace” campaign, which took her to a refugee camp in Jordan to lead cooking workshops for children. The experience encouraged her to pursue training more seriously.
Al Louz said she aims to give participants more than cooking skills, creating experiences that offer a sense of connection and a break from routine. For her, success comes when attendees apply what they learn in their own homes.
