SITR Compliance Technology W.L.L., an early-stage Bahraini regulatory technology startup supported by the Bahrain Economic Development Board, has launched operations in Bahrain to provide real-time Shariah compliance monitoring for Islamic financial institutions.
The company announced the launch during Gateway Gulf 2026, held in Bahrain from November 1 to 2. Its platform reviews executed transactions continuously against the rulings of an institution’s Shari’a Supervisory Board. It is designed to identify issues including execution errors, documentation gaps and changes to core banking parameters across the full transaction population, rather than through periodic sample-based reviews.
SITR connects to core banking systems through read-only integrations outside the transaction execution path. It can also process contracts and supporting documents, including scanned PDFs, without requiring institutions to change their existing systems.
The platform is designed around the Central Bank of Bahrain’s Shari’a Governance requirements and AAOIFI standards, while supporting internal Shari’a audit teams and complementing independent external audits. SITR said it has developed the product with input from Shari’a audit and compliance teams at Islamic financial institutions in Bahrain.
Headquartered in Manama, the startup plans to serve institutions in Bahrain and across the GCC, including Islamic banks, funds, brokerages and consumer finance providers. It also plans to hire Bahraini talent across business development, operations and product. The company is completing the final stage of its commercial licensing.
