Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports is using innovation and learning centers across the country to help young people develop skills, explore ideas and prepare for the changing job market, according to ministry official Mai Hassan.
Speaking on the television programme Shabab Online, Hassan said the ministry’s youth facilities include innovation centers and youth houses in governorates ranging from Suez and Imbaba to Asyut and New Valley. The facilities offer workshops, computer rooms and sports amenities for children and young people at what the ministry described as affordable prices.
The ministry is also working with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology through the Digital Egypt Builders initiative. Hosted at the Youth, Learning and Innovation Center in Gezira, the programme is aimed at helping young people build digital skills aligned with modern labour-market needs.
Hassan added that former civil education centers are being converted into youth innovation and learning centers to support creative projects in coordination with different institutions. The facilities also host sports academies covering football, swimming, gymnastics, judo and table tennis, with opportunities for club scouts to identify promising talent.
