Siran Foundation for Development and Capacity Building, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s Jordan office, has launched a policy paper focused on strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of Jordan’s digital entrepreneurship sector.
The paper was presented during a roundtable attended by policymakers, entrepreneurs, digital economy experts, incubators, civil society groups and international organisations.
According to the announcement, the paper is built around six policy priorities. These include establishing a national, recurring Digital Entrepreneurship Resilience Index; adopting an independent startup law with provisions for preferential treatment and an “innovative entrepreneurial company” designation; and introducing a simplified Jordanian joint-stock company structure without a minimum capital requirement.
The recommendations also call for replacing current social security exemptions with a shared government support system to help cover the cost of hiring advanced expertise.
Siran Director General Mohammad Awad said evidence-based analysis of legislation and procedures is needed to support decision-makers and align policy with development priorities. Konrad Adenauer Foundation Jordan Resident Representative Veronica Ertl said the project aims to strengthen Jordan’s position as a safe and sustainable regional hub for innovation-driven investment.
MP Hussein Kreishan said the government is updating laws and regulations related to entrepreneurship, the digital economy, investment funds and service providers. The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan also highlighted its Startups Jo platform, which connects entrepreneurs with opportunities and support organisations.
